Finishing 2021 with a publication by our dedicated science team titled “Changing the Proportions of Grass and Grain in Feed Substrate Impacts the Efficacy of Asparagopsis taxiformis to Inhibit Methane Production in Vitro”

The three key takeaways:

Methane reduction from Asparagopsis is depended on both inclusion and dietary forage levels.

Digestibility remains the same at different inclusion levels across the different diets – showing Asparagopsis has no negative impact on digestibility

We saw a shift towards an increased ratio of propionate : acetate volatile fatty acids with increased inclusion of Asparagopsis – indicating a push toward more energy-dense nutrients available for the animal to use for growth or feed conversions.

This study is a valuable foundational piece as we look to the path towards adoption in an open grazing setting.
