Welcome Volta Greentech
FutureFeed is thrilled to welcome Volta Greentech to its group of licensees to take the innovative Asparagopsis seaweed solution to drastically reduce methane from livestock to the market.
Volta Greentech is a Swedish greentech company on a mission to reduce methane emissions from the world's livestock. Volta Greentech is a tech company by heart, run by humans dedicating their actions and their love for technology to saving and preserving our only home, planet earth.
Nathaniel Last, CEO of FutureFeed said the team at Volta have shown incredible ingenuity to date.
“We look to our licensees to take this innovative science and scale it to have an impact and that is what Fredrik and the team at Volta Greentech are set to do in the European market,” Mr Last said.
“When we look to what we want to see in our licensees we’re looking for capability, capacity to rapidly scale, commitment to quality and certification, and aligned values looking to make a genuine impact on climate change.”
“The use of Asparagopsis seaweed is patent-protected and it’s important that livestock producers are using a licensed product. Volta Greentech is the first European licensee and are currently the only licensed grower in the region.”
Frekrik Åkerman, Founder and CEO of Volta Greentech, said he was excited to officially be a FutureFeed licensee.
“When you take new technology, it’s important to have a group with a global view that look at the solution as a whole and support the development of the entire industry so that we can take the scale rapidly and make a meaningful impact on climate change,” Mr Åkerman said.
“We look forward to collaborating with FutureFeed, and its other global licensees, to build this new, global industry that is set to have a significant impact on methane emissions and global warming.”
“Volta Greentech is preparing to establish a large-scale factory in 2023 that would be the world’s largest red seaweed factory and would see land-based cultivation for the European market scaled rapidly.”
Volta Greentech recently raised 1.7 million Euro to support its expansion and support its scalable, sustainable, and automated land-based red seaweed cultivation system.
FutureFeed is the global IP holder for the technology developed by Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in collaboration with Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), and James Cook University (JCU).
FutureFeed licenses seaweed growers around the world to supply Asparagopsis as a feed ingredient to livestock.
